When David Owen acquired Turweston Aerodrome in 1989, it was little more than a quiet, disused WWII airfield with a small gliding club.
Driven by vision and determination, he set out to breathe new life into the site, securing the necessary permissions in 1993 to re-establish Turweston as a fully operational General Aviation aerodrome.
Since then, under David’s leadership and with significant investment, Turweston has been transformed into the thriving venue it is today—an aerodrome that blends modern facilities with a welcoming atmosphere.
Backed by a dedicated and highly capable team, Turweston continues to grow as a destination where both pilots and visitors feel at home.
FLIGHT DECK CAFE
Perched on the first floor of Turweston’s Tower building, the Flight Deck Café offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Northamptonshire. With floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious terrace, visitors can enjoy panoramic views across the runway, lake, and surrounding countryside while relaxing with freshly prepared food. Whether you’re a pilot stopping in, a local visitor, or simply looking for a scenic spot to unwind, the café provides a warm welcome every day from 9am to 4pm
The menu is seasonal and locally sourced wherever possible, featuring crisp salads in summer, hearty soups in winter, and a tempting selection of homemade cakes year-round. Everything is cooked to order, ensuring quality and freshness. Clean, well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome too, making it a friendly stop for walkers and families.
